Joe Hawkins Joe Hawkins has been waking up Maui for nearly 4 years with the Maui Sunrise Show 6-10am weekday mornings. Joe’s been "Rockin on the Radio" since getting his start with Armed Forces Radio and Television in Saigon Viet Nam. His 30 plus years behind the mic include radio stations in Sedona, Tucson and Phoenix Arizona. In the 70’s Joe was on the air in Honolulu at KPOI/KDUK "The Duke". Next Stop was KAOI on Maui in 1979 as Program Director when the station was eclectic album rock. In 1980 Joe was lured to the mainland with a job offer at the famous Jazz Station KKGO Los Angeles where he spent the next 10 years smoothing out afternoons for L.A. listeners. In 1990 Joe went "nationwide" with a nightly show on the Westwood One Radio Network and heard on over 160 radio stations coast to coast and on the Armed Forces Radio Network. After 10 years in Country Radio Joe took a breather from radio and moved to Sedona Arizona where he became a certified Arizona firefighter and EMT and owner of a Nutritional Supplement Store. Radio never left his blood and he moved to Pago Pago Samoa 3 years later for a short stint at KKHJ doing afternoon drive. Next stop was Maui and his current home on KONI playing the hits from the 60’s and 70’s. Joe’s voice continues to be heard around the world on various radio and television projects. |
